Ways of seeing john berger audiobook5/21/2023 ![]() He claims that before the invention of cameras, people could only perceive what was in front of them and their personal experience. ![]() Because now our eyes can see things that are miles away with the use of cameras, our entire perspective of the world has changed as human beings. Our habits and conventions, according to John, go beyond just what the eye sees at the moment. He makes this argument by explaining we are conditioned to see the world in a different perspective than people over one hundred years ago because of photography and technology. John Berger states that the act of seeing is not as objective as we think. What does Berger mean when he says that the process of seeing is not “natural,” that it is shaped by habits and conventions? What kinds of habits and conventions shape the ways we see and how do they do this? Instead, he argues that what we see is conditioned by habits and conventions. One of the first points John Berger makes is that the act of seeing something is not as objective as we might at first think. ![]()

Perfect Lies by Kiersten White5/21/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() Meanwhile, Fia is working with James to take down Keane from the inside. So, Annie is on the run with the Lerner group. ![]() Basically, Fia has given Annie a chance to escape from the academy by “killing” her. So, this plot is going to be kind of hard for me to describe but I will do my best. There might be a few things I did not love but that does not detract from my overall ultimate enjoyment of White’s latest sequel. Y’all, I kind of burned through Perfect Lies and am mostly pleased with what I read. When it came to Perfect Lies I was actually kind of excited because I felt invested in Fia and Annie, the sisters with special powers being used by a totally shady company. Also, why would you read the review of the sequel before reading the first book? That’s weird.īack when I picked up Mind Games by Kiersten White, I remembered being totally apprehensive because of the negative reviews, but then I ended up enjoying the book, regardless. Note: Some spoilers for Mind Games will happen as it’s impossible for me to talk about the sequel without doing some spoiling. ![]()
